One of the major advantages of living in the Sunshine State is being so close to family. For Easter we traveled north for a change to visit Granddaddy and Granny Gill in Live Oak and Grandma Gill in Lake City.

For the second year in a row, Zoe got to decorate Easter eggs with Granny. Zoe was very egg-cited (har har) to participate in this rite of passage - so much so that we had an accident before we even began! But after we cleaned up all the colored water from the counters, floor, chair, and Zoe, we were good to go! Granny tried to teach Zoe to slowly drop the egg in each cup with the colored water, but slowly isn't something that Zoe does well! We had a little splatter here and there, but most of the color did end up on the eggs.

The next day we had one of those huge Gill Family gatherings complete with bunny cakes, tons of smoked meat, and an Easter egg hunt. Granny had thoughtfully allocated part of the yard for the young kids and toddlers to hunt for Easter eggs (these were easier to find than the bigger kids' eggs). It turned out that it was only Zoe and her 1 year old cousin looking for eggs in the toddler section of the yard, and of course, Zoe was far superior in finding the eggs than her cousin. But instead of taking advantage of this, Zoe helped her younger cousin and whenever she found an egg, she'd put it in Carly's basket instead of her own. It was very cute to witness her selflessness. We actually had to convince her to keep some of her eggs and not give them all away!

We had fun seeing Great Grandma Gill. Max was especially glad because this was the first time they ever met.

On Easter morning, before we headed back to our own house, Zoe and Max found the baskets that the Easter Bunny had left for them. Max got a sippy cup and a pacifier while Zoe got a Curious George themed Easter basket. No chocolate here though. After all, Zoe still doesn't like chocolate - freak.
